Chelsea have to wait until Monday evening to begin their Premier League campaign, with a visit to face neighbours Fulham in west London.
The season got underway on Friday night with champions Arsenal defeating newly-promoted Coventry City 3-0 at The Emirates, and there are five more games taking place on Saturday.
New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso will hope to see his side start with a win against the Cottagers, who are now managed by Alvaro Arbeloa – the man who replaced Alonso at Real Madrid at the start of the year.
In the meantime, it has emerged that a Premier League club are trying to sign a Chelsea star.
As per Ben Jacobs, Leeds United are in talks to sign Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk on loan for the rest of the current campaign.
The Ukraine international hasn’t played professionally for 20 months after being banned for testing positive for meldonium.
His ban ended last month, and the winger has since featured for Alonso’s side in pre-season friendlies.
Mudryk is likely to leave the Blues on loan for the current campaign, with the club keen to ensure he plays regularly as he aims to return to his peak.
The Whites are said to be in talks to sign the Ukrainian, however Jacobs does claim that talks are not yet at an advanced stage.
Having joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023, Mudryk has scored ten goals in 73 appearances across all competitions for the London side so far, as well as registering 11 assists.
The winger’s contract at Stamford Bridge isn’t set to expire until the summer of 2031, so it appears quite likely that the attacker will feature for Chelsea again at some point.
