Arsenal have completed the singing of Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

The Gunners announced on Saturday morning that they had finalised a move for the midfielder, who has been linked with a move to The Emirates for some time now.

The fee for the move has not been disclosed, but BBC Sport claims that the Gunners have paid £75 million for the Brazilian.

Guimaraes, 28, joined Newcastle from French side Lyon back in 2022 and went on to play 195 times for the North East giants across all competitions, scoring 30 goals and providing 25 assists.

The midfielder was also part of Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the World Cup in North America this summer, where he featured four times as Brazil were eliminated from the competition at the last 16 stage by Norway.

Guimaraes’ arrival at The Emirates comes just days after Christian Norgaard departed to join Everton, just 12 months after signing for the Gunners from Brentford.

Newcastle’s squad for the upcoming season will look very different to the squad that finished last term, with Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali both having departed St. James’ Park since the end of last season.

Guimaraes had been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle in recent months, but it hadn’t been certain whether or not the two clubs would be able to finalise a deal.

The Brazilian will add experience and versatility to Mikel Arteta’s squad, as they look to defend their Premier League title during the upcoming campaign.

The former Lyon man will likely join Declan Rice in midfield for Arteta’s side, while the likes of Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi will also compete for a starting spot.
