Carlos Queiroz is poised to remain at the helm of the Ghana national team, the Black Stars, after his initial short-term contract expires on July 31, 2026.

There were initial reports circulating in local media about his departure and resignation from the job, but the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation consistently rebutted such claims.

According to them, the Portuguese trainer had excused himself for vacation after the Black Stars exited the World Cup.

Queiroz, 73, was appointed in April 2026 on a four-month deal primarily to guide the Black Stars through the World Cup in North America, but oversaw the team’s exit at the Round of 32 against Colombia in Kansas City.

His contract expires on July 31, and he is expected to pen down a two-year deal. His main target is to win AFCON 2027 next year.
