Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati has reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding partnership with the Republic of Seychelles across a wide range of sectors, marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During a virtual meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles Barry Faure, Abdel-Aati described the anniversary as a significant milestone reflecting five decades of close friendship and constructive co-operation.

He said the occasion underscored the steady development of bilateral relations and expressed Egypt’s aspiration to expand collaboration in areas that serve the mutual interests of both countries, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf.

He added that the two ministers reviewed opportunities to deepen bilateral co-operation in a number of priority sectors, including sports, tourism, pharmaceuticals and maritime security.

They also exchanged views on regional issues of common interest, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing sustainable development and promoting greater co-operation in support of stability and prosperity across the region.

For his part, Minister Faure thanked Egypt for its donation of laptop computers in support of the First Lady of Seychelles’ initiative, describing the gesture as a testament to the enduring friendship and strong co-operation between the two nations.

Faure also congratulated Abdel-Aati on the Egyptian national team’s impressive performance at the World Cup, noting that the achievement represented a source of pride for African football as a whole.
