Cursor, a startup that develops artificial intelligence-powered programming tools, has officially completed its acquisition by SpaceX. Cursor announced the deal’s closing in its blog on Saturday.
In April, Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Cursor announced a technology partnership. The terms of the agreement gave SpaceX the right to acquire the startup for $60 billion. In June, following SpaceX’s IPO, the companies confirmed plans to complete the acquisition.
Cursor emphasised that the deal gives the company access to SpaceX’s large-scale computing infrastructure. SpaceX already provides this capacity to clients including Anthropic and Google.
Cursor said that SpaceX is developing computing resources to scale intelligence beyond current capabilities. Cursor’s AI-powered programming tools are expected to become one of the practical applications of these technologies.
At the same time, SpaceX is a defendant in a lawsuit concerning pollution linked to the company’s data center gas turbines.
The closing of the deal formally establishes Cursor within SpaceX’s corporate structure and brings together the AI tools developer with the company’s large-scale computing infrastructure.
