The debate as to where Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua’s long-awaited grudge match should take place is continuing to rage on, and Carl Froch has made his feelings on the matter clear.
Fury and Joshua have been linked to a showdown with one another for the best part of a decade, but it has taken until their twilight years for the pair to finally agree to a fight, which is sure to be a career finale for at least one of the two-time heavyweight world champions.
Despite being continuously labelled – and presumably billed – as the biggest fight in British boxing history, it seems as though New York is the most likely host for the event, with Netflix insisting that the clash heads to Madison Square Garden.
Now, Matchroom Promoter Eddie Hearn has threatened to call the fight off if a premature announcement for the venue is made without allowing him to renegotiate figures.
On his YouTube channel, Froch on Fighting, four-time super-middleweight world champion Froch declared that the scrap should happen on British soil.
“We talked previously about it maybe happening in the States. Which I said is terrible for the British fans, it’s out of order. It is an all-British affair and it is arguably the biggest fight in British boxing history. It’s a big one and it should be on British soil.”
It had seemed as though Fury-Joshua would go ahead in November, but prolonged discussions could push the card into early 2027, as Hearn attempts to convince those involved to relocate.
