Liverpool remain in talks to sign PSG star | Shoot

Liverpool face Italian side Como in their final pre-season friendly of the summer on Sunday.

Andoni Iraola’s side won their first two friendlies of the summer – against fellow Premier League side Sunderland and Championship outfit Wrexham – but have surrendered two-goal leads in each of their last two matches, losing to Leeds United and Monaco.

Andoni Iraola will be keen to address his side’s defensive frailties before they begin their Premier League campaign with a visit to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United on August 23.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Liverpool are still in talks over a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian claims that the Reds remain in contact with PSG about a potential move to sign the winger, who impressed for France at the World Cup earlier this summer.

While reaching an agreement on personal terms with PSG will not prove to be an issue, Romano claims that the two clubs are yet to agree a deal.

Barcola, 23, has scored 39 goals and registered 37 assists in 152 games for PSG across all competitions since joining from fellow Ligue 1 outfit Lyon three years ago.

Last term the attacker scored 11 times in 29 games in the French top flight, and his impressive performances have put him firmly on Liverpool’s radar as they search for attacking reinforcements.

Romano also suggests that Liverpool could still sign two wingers before the end of the current transfer window, depending on whether or not current star Cody Gakpo departs to join Premier League rivals Tottenham.

Regardless, youngster Rio Ngumoha will stay put at Anfield and be part of Iraola’s squad for the upcoming campaign, the report suggests.

Barcola’s current contract in the French capital is set to expire in June 2028.
