Herve Renard has landed himself teh head coach role of Western African giants, Ivory Coast.

The 57-year-old Frenchman is coming into this job for the second time running and is set to replace 2024 AFCON winning coah Emerse Fae.

Renard’s return was announced by the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) on Tuesday and comes as Ivory Coast prepare for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

He will meet the Black Stars of Ghana in September for the AFCON qualifiers.

Renard has strong ties with African football, winning the 2012 AFCON with Zambia and guiding Ivory Coast to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations title.

He has had to manage sides like Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia, giving him extensive experience of international football on the continent.

Renard’s appointment also comes after the team exited the World Cup Round of 32 and will be looking to regroup for the upcoming September qualifiers.
