Liverpool face Premier League rivals Sunderland in their first pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday.
Andoni Iraola took charge of the Reds earlier this summer following the departure of Arne Slot after a disappointing campaign.
The Reds had failed to defend their Premier League title, and Slot was sacked after guiding his side to a fifth-placed finish last season, with the Merseyside outfit only qualifying for the Champions League after England were given an additional qualification place.
Ahead of their game against the Black Cats, it has emerged that Liverpool are eyeing a move to sign a Swedish defender.
As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool have identified Borussia Dortmund full-back Daniel Svensson as a possible transfer target.
The Reds are currently on the hunt for a new left-back following the departure of long-serving Andy Robertson at the end of last term, with the Scot having since joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.

Svensson, 24, joined Dortmund from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland last year and made 45 appearances for the German side last term, taking his tally for the club to 66 in all competitions.
During that time the Swede has registered six assists as well as scoring six times, and he has also been capped 16 times by Sweden at international level so far.
According to the report, Liverpool have placed the defender firmly on their shortlist of transfer targets, although the Merseyside outfit could face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus in the race to land the full-back.
Svensson’s current contract with Dortmund isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2028/29 season, with puts the Bundesliga side in a commanding position despite Liverpool’s desire to lure the player to the Premier League.
