Century for Ben Duckett. In a series-decider match against India, the England National Cricket Team batter smashed a blazing century at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. With the ton, Ben Duckett has become one of the few openers who have registered a hundred in both ODIs and Tests.
The England opener completed his century against India in style, smashing a four off Indian emerging pacer Gurnoor Brar on the second ball of the 36th over of the first innings of the game.

Without Jasprit Bumrah in the side, the Indian bowlers barely managed to trouble the experienced opener in the match, from touching the 100-run mark. The crowd at Lord’s were up on their feet when the ball touched the ropes to mark Ben Duckett’s achievement. Duckett took off his helmet and raised his bat in acknowledgment.
Joe Root, who helped England to win the match in Cardiff, was on the other end of the pitch and appreciated Duckett for scoring the brilliant century.
England could have produced another century through the other opener, Jacob Bethell. Bethell also deserved a hundred, but he fell to Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna for 91 runs, missing out on the century by nine runs only.
The absence of Jasprit Bumrah seems like a factor in the game. The ace pacer has been ruled out of the series decider because of a knee issue. At the toss, India captain Shubman Gill informed that Arshdeep Singh has joined the playing XI to replace Jasprit Bumrah, who is out of the match because of a knee injury he got in the previous match in Cardiff.
Bumrah marked his return in the format through the India vs England 3-match ODI series, almost after a couple of years. Before featuring for India in Birmingham, the speed star’s last ODI match was the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. After playing only 2 matches, he was ruled out due to a fresh injury setback.

If Ben Duckett continues to maintain the momentum, he could touch the 150-run mark as well. Joe Root is also batting well against India and is nearing another 50-run mark in his ODI career.
