Netflix has announced that Under Siege (Palacio) will arrive on the service on November 6, 2026. The eight-episode Colombian series is inspired by the events surrounding the siege of Colombia’s Palace of Justice on November 6 and 7, 1985, and the subsequent retaking of the building by the Colombian Army.

What is the series about?

Netflix describes the drama as a fictional series shaped by extensive research into publicly known events, documents, testimonies and interviews. The production aims to present perspectives on a deeply consequential episode in Colombia’s recent history. Because the story is dramatized, viewers should distinguish the series’ creative choices from independently established historical facts.

Production and creative approach

The official announcement says the production involved more than seven years of research and a large set in Bogotá spanning over 4,000 square metres, built over a period of more than three months. The writing team includes Natalia Santa, Enrique Videla, Enrique Lozano, Jenny Ceballos and Estefanía Piñeres. Directing credits include Jayro Bustamante, Edgar Nito and Samir Oliveros, with production by Dynamo.

Release date and episodes

The announced release date is November 6, 2026, with eight episodes. Netflix has positioned the premiere on the anniversary of the historical events that inspired the series. Regional catalogue details, subtitles and audio options should be confirmed on the service in each market.

Historical context and responsible viewing

Series based on political violence and national trauma can introduce new audiences to difficult history, but dramatization is not the same as a documentary account. Viewers who want to understand the event should compare the series with historical archives, independent reporting and first-hand testimony.
