{"id":726,"date":"2026-07-10T13:39:01","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T13:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/valutednews.com\/?p=726"},"modified":"2026-07-10T13:39:01","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T13:39:01","slug":"places-leisure-is-working-with-roberts-limbrick-to-build-60m-wellness-flagship-in-basingstoke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/valutednews.com\/?p=726","title":{"rendered":"Places Leisure is working with Roberts Limbrick to build \u00a360m wellness flagship in Basingstoke"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leisureopportunities.co.uk\/images\/2026\/SOC-IMG-20260701-144810-3298.jpeg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Places Leisure is working with Roberts Limbrick to build \u00a360m wellness flagship in Basingstoke\" title=\"Places Leisure is working with Roberts Limbrick to build \u00a360m wellness flagship in Basingstoke\" \/><\/div><p><\/p>\n<div>By Kath Hudson \u00a0\u00a0 10 Jul 2026<\/div>\n<p>Places Leisure is creating a landmark facility in Basingstoke \/ <span class=\"italic\">Roberts Limbrick Architects<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has exchanged contracts with Places Leisure for the design, construction, and operation of a flagship leisure hub<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a360 million energy-efficient destination will house a 25-metre competition pool, water flumes, a gym, padel courts and reformer Pilates studio<\/p>\n<p>A detailed planning application will be submitted in the autumn<\/p>\n<p>Places Leisure will formally assume management of the current Aquadrome, Basingstoke Golf Centre, and Tadley Health and Fitness Centre on 1 January 2027<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Places Leisure has exchanged contracts to build and operate a flagship \u00a360m water and wellness destination on behalf of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.\u00a0This will be the biggest investment in wellbeing the borough has seen for decades.<\/p>\n<p>The landmark facility will replace Basingstoke Aquadrome. Subject to planning permission, the complex will be built in a new location on the site, enabling the existing Aquadrome to remain open until the new facility is complete.<\/p>\n<p>Places Leisure is working with Roberts Limbrick Architects to finalise the detailed designs of the energy-efficient complex, which has been shaped by extensive public feedback, ahead of submitting a planning application in Q3 this year. The planned opening date is 2029.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plans include a gym, fitness studios, reformer Pilates studio, padel courts and indoor play, including Clip and Climb. There will also be a 25-metre, eight-lane competition pool, teaching pool, flumes, a party rooms and a cafe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dan Walker, business development director at Places Leisure says: \u201cThe new landmark destination will deliver significant opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of the entire community. Places Leisure will be bringing its expertise and experience to this project to deliver a high-quality and community-focused facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agreement also sees Places Leisure become the new operator of Basingstoke Aquadrome, Basingstoke Golf Centre and Tadley Health and Fitness Centre from Friday 1 January 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet member for major projects and business engagement Councillor Onnalee Cubitt says the partners are committed to creating something exceptional: \u201cThis is one of the most exciting milestones our borough has reached in many years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It marks the beginning of a new era for leisure, health and wellbeing in Basingstoke and it will redefine leisure in North Hampshire. We\u2019re investing in a vibrant destination that will inspire people of all ages to be more active, healthier and happier.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new complex will also play an important role in the wider transformation of our leisure park.
