\n\tAs Americans across the country struggle with the high costs of living and stagnant wages, Donald Trump<\/a> has made a fortune since retaking the White House<\/a>. The president has reportedly upped his net worth\u00a0by billions<\/a>\u00a0in his second term, and nearly every member of his immediate family \u2014 and even some of his extended family \u2014 is also cashing in. Their financial portfolios have coincidently aligned with the goals of Trump\u2019s administration, which has green-lit deals and contracts with multiple companies that Trump family members have invested in.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis week, the Trump family once again came under heavy scrutiny as the president\u2019s financial disclosures<\/a> revealed that in 2025\u00a0he made $2.2 billion<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 including $1.4 billion on crypto. The eye-watering number is more than he made across all four years of his first term combined. It\u2019s also over three times the $622 million he made in 2024 before returning to the White House.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe president brushed off concerns over his family\u2019s financial disclosures in an interview with CNBC\u2019s Joe Kernen at the Oval Office on Thursday. Trump bemoaned that his children have access to \u201cinside information\u201d due to his presidency and then bizarrely likened their woes to buying a frosted pastry.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel badly in a way for my kids \u2026 Anything they do, because the presidency is so powerful, so big \u2026 if they buy a cupcake company, well, the energy to make the cupcakes, is you know, sort of like, \u2018How\u2019s my energy policy?\u2019 So, therefore you have a conflict,\u201d Trump reasoned. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe president added, \u201cAlmost anything they do, if they want to buy a truck \u2026 if they buy an energy efficient truck, they have inside information.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in the conversation, Trump appeared to brush off accountability and said his son, Eric Trump, handles his financial dealings. \u201cIt\u2019s given to big firms \u2026 my son Eric handles it,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI don\u2019t talk to him about things such as this.
