Egypt Responds"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><\/div><p><\/p>\n<div id=\"single-post\">\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has pushed back against reports circulating on social media that large numbers of Egyptian workers are being dismissed from their jobs in the United Arab Emirates, according to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.masrawy.com\/news\/news_egypt\/details\/2026\/8\/18\/3034974\/%D8%A8%D8%B9%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC%D8%AF%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AE%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AC%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%83%D8%B4%D9%81-%D8%AD%D9%82%D9%8A%D9%82%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%BA%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1-%D8%B9%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">official<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> statement.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ministry says there is no evidence of a widespread campaign against Egyptian workers in the UAE or elsewhere in the Gulf, describing the cases being <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Gt3pAzNGdI8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shared<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> online as individual incidents rather than part of a broader trend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Haddad El-Gohary, assistant foreign minister for consular affairs, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.masrawy.com\/news\/news_egypt\/details\/2026\/8\/18\/3034974\/%D8%A8%D8%B9%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC%D8%AF%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AE%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AC%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%83%D8%B4%D9%81-%D8%AD%D9%82%D9%8A%D9%82%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%BA%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1-%D8%B9%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Egyptian officials had been monitoring the reports and checking individual cases with the relevant authorities.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to El-Gohary, the UAE is currently reviewing residency permits and entry visas, but this should not be confused with a mass dismissal of Egyptian workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is actually happening?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some Egyptians have had their residency permits cancelled, El-Gohary acknowledged. But he said most of the cases examined by Egyptian authorities involved violations of UAE residency rules.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of those rules requires residents who leave the UAE to return within six months. The requirement applies to residents of all nationalities, not just Egyptians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other cases involve people who entered the UAE on tourist visas hoping to find work and later switch to employment-based residency. Some were unable to secure jobs and consequently ran into residency issues, El-Gohary said.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Visas are still being issued<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Egyptian companies operating in the UAE <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.masrawy.com\/news\/news_egypt\/details\/2026\/8\/18\/3034974\/%D8%A8%D8%B9%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC%D8%AF%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AE%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AC%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%83%D8%B4%D9%81-%D8%AD%D9%82%D9%8A%D9%82%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%BA%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1-%D8%B9%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continue<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to obtain visas for their employees as part of their ongoing business activities and investments, the ministry said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The issue is expected to receive further attention in October, when a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mofa.gov.ae\/en\/mediahub\/news\/2019\/2017\/2\/2\/02-01-2017-uae-uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">joint<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Egyptian-UAE consular committee is due to meet.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The committee will review cases involving Egyptian citizens in the UAE, including both residents and visitors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For now, Egyptian officials are stressing that while individual residency and visa cases do exist, there is no evidence of a mass dismissal
