Egypt is advancing technical and economic studies to apply horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing across petroleum and gas fields, aiming to boost production and reduce operating expenses. The initiative follows discussions between Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy and a senior Halliburton delegation led by Ahmed Helmy, Vice President for North Africa.<\/p>\n
Badawy emphasised that maximising Egypt\u2019s hydrocarbon resources is a top priority, directing Halliburton to prepare actionable studies nationwide in coordination with EGPC, EGAS and Ganope. He called for extending advanced techniques to natural gas projects as well as oil, ensuring broader gains from reserves and improved field economics.<\/p>\n
Helmy praised Egypt\u2019s investment climate and confirmed Halliburton\u2019s operational flexibility to expand its work in Egypt. He revealed that studies are already under way on unconventional reservoirs, with potential applications in Western Desert fields such as Khalda. The company plans a nationwide review to identify optimal sites for deploying modern drilling and fracturing solutions.<\/p>\n
Halliburton highlighted promising results in several Egyptian operators, including Khalda, General Petroleum Company and Badr Petroleum, and expressed readiness to expand cooperation, transfer technology, and support sustainable production growth.<\/p>\n
