President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi directed the development of local manufacturing in the black sand industry and related value-added products, as well as fertilizers and rare earth elements.<\/p>\n
This came during President Sisi\u2019s meeting in New Alamein on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, and Chairman of the Concord for Engineering and Contracting Ahmed al-Abd.<\/p>\n
Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy said the meeting reviewed the latest developments in implementing the national strategy to expand new and renewable energy projects, which targets increasing the share of renewable energy to 45 percent of total generated electricity by 2028.<\/p>\n
The strategy comes as part of the state\u2019s drive to increase reliance on new and renewable energy sources in the energy mix, requiring the expansion of battery-based electricity storage technologies to secure the national grid and ensure stable and continuous power supplies.<\/p>\n
Esmat said the total investments in the electricity and new and renewable energy sector have reached around LE five trillion since 2014.<\/p>\n
The presidential spokesman added that the meeting also reviewed the role of international partners in providing technical support and financing for renewable energy projects, contributing to strengthening Egypt\u2019s position as a regional energy hub and a center for the manufacturing of electrical equipment.<\/p>\n
In this regard, President Sisi stressed the need to support all forms and models of partnerships, particularly those utilizing locally manufactured equipment, especially energy storage batteries.<\/p>\n
He also underscored the importance of supporting the localization of industries related to new and renewable energy, which constitute a key pillar of energy security and the green transition.<\/p>\n
The presidential spokesman added that the minister of electricity reviewed efforts to develop industries related to the electricity and new and renewable energy sectors.<\/p>\n
