\n\tNearly two months after Mitch McConnell<\/a> was admitted into\u00a0a hospital in Washington, the Kentucky senator\u00a0announced on Thursday that he has been discharged from a rehabilitation facility.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEarlier today, I was discharged from the rehabilitation center to continue my recovery at home. Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I\u2019ve received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff,\u201d McConnell said in a statement, per CNN<\/a>. McConnell added that on advice from his doctors, he would be maintaining an \u201cintensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I\u2019ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcConnell was initially hospitalized on June 14 and at the time, the reason was unclear and sparked intense speculation that the former Senate majority leader\u2019s condition may be far more severe than his political team indicated.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing weeks of rumors, McConnell issued a statement<\/a> and said that he landed in the hospital after suffering a fall. \u201cMy doctors have confirmed that I didn\u2019t break any bones or suffer a concussion,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don\u2019t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I\u2019ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcConnell\u2019s health has appeared to be declining for years. He has been hospitalized for both illnesses and physical accidents, and in 2023 had a series of incidents in which he\u00a0appeared to freeze up in public<\/a>, briefly losing the ability to speak.
