The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) hosted two delegations from the Bank of Ghana as part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation with African central banks and exchange expertise in data management, artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

The first delegation visited the CBE over several days to learn about Egypt\u2019s experience in digital transformation, AI, advanced analytics, data governance, and the development of financial services.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the CBE\u2019s integrated data management system, including data governance, Supervisory and Regulatory Technology (SupTech and RegTech) applications, and the use of AI to support monetary policy, inflation forecasting, and labour market analysis.<\/p>\n

Discussions also covered the CBE\u2019s efforts to enhance supervisory and oversight mechanisms, improve data collection and analysis processes, and deploy AI-powered chatbots to support operations and increase institutional efficiency.<\/p>\n

The programme included a presentation on the CBE\u2019s Digital Transformation Strategy and Egypt\u2019s experience in expanding the digital payments ecosystem. Officials outlined measures to support the transition towards a less-cash society through the development of national payments infrastructure, the strengthening of regulatory and legislative frameworks, and the launch and expansion of digital payment systems and services.<\/p>\n

The delegation also reviewed several of the CBE\u2019s flagship initiatives, including the Instant Payment Network (IPN), the InstaPay application, tokenisation technologies that support secure digital payments, and the Digital Financial Identity (eKYC) system, which enables electronic customer identification and verification.<\/p>\n

In a parallel initiative, a second delegation from the Bank of Ghana visited the CBE for two days to benefit from Egypt\u2019s expertise in cybersecurity. The visit marked the delegation\u2019s second engagement with the CBE and focused on the operational framework of the Egyptian Financial Computing Incident Response Team (EG-FinCIRT).<\/p>\n

The discussions examined governance frameworks for digital financial services, as well as the mechanisms used to authorise fintech applications and emerging technological solutions before their launch in the Egyptian market.<\/p>\n

The delegation also reviewed the CBE\u2019s approach to cyber risk assessment and resilience through the Egyptian Financial Cybersecurity Framework (EG-FinCSF). Officials highlighted that an enhanced second version of the framework is currently being prepared for launch to keep pace with the rapidly evolving global cyber landscape and introduce more flexible and precise supervisory and assessment tools to strengthen the protection of banks and financial institutions.<\/p>\n

The visits reflect the CBE\u2019s commitment to expanding technical cooperation and capacity building with African central banks, supporting greater financial and banking integration across the continent.<\/p>\n
